A New Start

Well, A LOT has happened since my last post. I can not believe that I still have this. I haven't updated in forever cause I pretty much post everything on Facebook, and no one really reads blogs anymore. If you do I'm SO impressed. I'm not quite sure where to start. This is my 100th post! That's exciting. And I think even after barely keeping up with the blog, I still beat Allie, Jason, and Bry for posting. I'll have to check that before I get bragging rights. I think Allie might have got me beat.

Anyways, there is so much going on right now I'm not sure what to start with! Let's start with something simple. Maybe that will lead into something else I can write about. For starters, I'm in high school! I'm now registered and currently attending Burnsville High School. It's WAY different than Metcalf. I miss Metcalf A LOT but I love the BHS. I've met some new people, and I enjoy all my teachers and classes. Everything is pretty cool there. Except the work is a LOT harder. Instead of my usual 4 A's and 2 B's, I have 2 A's and 4 B's. Wow. I never thought my grades would be so low! Especially for starting out in a new school. It's not that I don't try, I just don't test well, which bring my grades down sometimes after finals and stuff. I could have a solid A and then after a huge test, it's brought down to a B or B-.

Besides the grades, the high school has also opened a lot of new doors for me in extra curricular activities. I'm not doing any right now, but I think maybe in the Spring I might do Cross Country. My friend Katrina wants me to do Nordic Skiing this winter. Which sounds fun! But I think I'm just gonna focus on school for a bit. I don't have that much homework yet so that's nice, but I know it's gonna get harder. And I want my grades up! And since I don't have that much work yet, I want to get a job! And I've applied to a couple places, but haven't gotten any response yet. I think that's a cue that I didn't get the job, or my application didn't get in on time. Hopefully, I'll get one soon.

Also at the BHS I'm reconnecting with some old friends from elementary school who I haven't seen in 3 years. My elementary school, Sky Oaks, was one of those schools that were split between Metcalf and Nicollet Jr High. So it's fun to see everyone again! Reconnecting with old friendships is very fun. So is meeting all these new people from Eagle Ridge, the third jr high school in the 191 district. Even if they didn't come from those schools, or there just new people I hang out with, it's still fun! It's like starting Metcalf all over again! It's great!

Hmmmmm.... What else?... OH! I went to my very first Homecoming Dance this year! It was the most amazing thing ever! One day all about me, dressed like a princess, with an amazing dress, and got to have the time of my life with my closest friends. I don't think I've ever been that spoiled! Or girly! I learned how to use an Eyelash curler! That was pretty cool. The day was fantastic! I got all dolled up and then I took pictures with my friends at Heart Of The City in Burnsville. But at the same time it was kind of stressful taking care of everyone. I'm kind of like the mom of all my friends. If they need something they come to me, which I don't mind at all, but when I'm just as nervous as they are, I'm not much help! The whole night turned out fantastic either way. I REALLY enjoyed it. I went with my friends, Katrina, Marissa, Alyssa, Alison, Krista, Jaimee, Roman, Blake, Alex, Coty, Alex, (Yes there are 2 Alex's), and Kole. Kole was my date:)

Speaking of dating, I'm now officially 16, which means I can go out with guys. I mean I've been going out with guys for a while, but now I'm actually allowed! Well, it was okay before too, I just couldn't be alone with a guy by myself. Before it was group dates or a double date. There's not much of a difference though cause I haven't gone on a one on one date yet, so maybe that'll happen soon! Mom and Dad don't like that idea much. But it's their rule at 16. Funny thing is I have to be home by like 8pm.:P I guess they realized the rule wasn't on their side as much as they thought. But it's nice to have some freedom. They say they can trust my judgement, which is nice. I get questioned a lot though. What is up with this parenting thing?! I guess with more freedom comes more responsibility.

You should have been there when I got the "You're starting high school" speech from my mom. She's all "You're so naive! Be careful! Don't do drugs! Stay AWAY from THAT crowd!" type thing, which is expected. But I'm most definitely NOT naive. I just don't see the bad in people, and I don't judge them for what they do. That's not my place. It's what they want to do, that's their choice, whether it's good or bad. I'm not saying I support bad decisions, but I know where most people are coming from. I've seen a lot of things going to public school! And a lot of the bad things are now considered normal. I guess it's part of the teenage years, but if I have to deal with it, I might as well acknowledge it's there, but not embrace it as as a normal lifestyle choice. Not that I'm going to or plan on getting into anything, but it's just the way I think about it. And some of the stuff I've seen/done has led to some other stuff and that stuff has lead me where I am now. Some things I regret, others I knew it was right to do. You just have to trust me on my decisions.

Just the other day at conferences at school, my dad asked me on the way home if I was a good girl. I didn't respond cause just a bit before that some things happened that I could have handled it better than I did and I kinda felt bad about it. But don't worry, it's not as bad as what you're probably thinking. Everything is fine now, so it doesn't matter much. But it's one of those things that's gonna take a bit to fade. I responded kind of in a nod to the question and then left. I think that got them worried:P But I can honestly say nothing out of the ordinary is happening that you really have to be worried about. I know when to get help and when I don't need it.

Hmmm.... What else is there to write about? I think I pretty much covered everything. High school, Homecoming, Social life..I think I got it covered!

That's it for now. If you read all of this, leave a comment or something! I'd love to hear your thoughts. And it'll give me something to read in my spare time!:)

Wow, I have a blog?

If people still read this, this update is just for you! I know I haven't posted in a heck of a long time, but better late than never right?! Well, a lot has happened since World Challenge ended. Here are a couple major events.

1. After World Challenge, I got really close to my team mates and now we hang out, text, talk (Etc) almost every day(hour) :)

2. I finished my Duluth Project! Our Social Studies final was our big trip to Duluth. All the Freshmen got to go and learn about the city and whatnot. Our project was to build a business there and present it to the board and get them to buy our city. It was very fun! Duluth is a great city

3. I finished all my finals! And I got my final grades back! 4 A's, 1 B and 1 C... I let my grade slip in Math cause that was one of my better subjects. I got a C on the final so my B- went to a C. :P All my other tests went really well:)

4. SCHOOL'S OUT!!!! I am no longer at Metcalf Jr. High:'( That's sad. I really love that school. It's given me so much! I am now a SOPHOMORE at Burnsville High School:)

5. SUMMER!! So far my summer is great! Mostly spending it with friends and family. I'm loving it so far! So much freedom and no school! How epic can one summer be? I don't know but I love it!:D

6. Boys... I guess it's time now to explain the guy situations before my mom gets the chance to. For the most part everything is great! But sometimes things get complicated. Long stories short, its basically, I like them, they don't get the memo until the crush wares off, and then they like me. Guys are weird. :)

7. Weddings, gatherings, parties, traveling, (Etc) make my life! So let me know what events are going on when! It's so much fun to see family and friends.

8.Piano, Guitar, and Ultimate Frisbee are all things that I'm looking into this summer. I'm taking Guitar and teaching myself piano by listening to songs and tutorials on Youtube. Its pretty easy and fun! I love music:)

9. I guess that's kind of it?! I thought I'd get to 10 :P My life isn't THAT exciting:)
Can't wait for summer! I feel like its 1/2 over already but I've only been out of school 10 days! Wow! Hope to update the blog more as well:)

Wolrd Challenge

Hey! For those of you who don't know my World Challenge team placed FIRST in the Solution Showcase and THIRD in the Overall Team Scores.

World Challenge is a great group to get involved in world affairs, This years topic was water and how we can save and sanitize it enough for other countries to use it. This was my first year in World Challenge. Same with my other team members and classmates that were in it.

There were two teams in the competition from Metcalf. The A Team was the name of my team since all of our names begin with A's. There was Alyssa, Allison, Avesta, and myself, Asia. The second team was H2OhSoCool. There was Nathaniel, Brianna, Sarah, Roumany, Raven, and Erick. They placed SECOND in the Solution Showcase.

Both teams did extremely well for our first time presenting and performing our skits. There were 18 other teams in the senior division as well as our two, so taking home first, second, and third place plaques home was AMAZING! I was so proud of our team, I cried cause I really didn't think we were going to do so well.

Our presentation and our posters were awesome, but there was this one judge during our second session presentation who totally bashed our project and he asked us the randomest questions that totally made us look bad. I thought that would impact our score but it looks like we did just fine. In general, the judges were awesome! They were cool, young, and super fun to interact with. Except for that one judge... That kind of ruined part of our day because that's all we could think about. We were so worried that his grading would affect my team.

Overall, it was an amazing day and I can't wait to join next year! Next years theme is food! PERFECT! And the best thing is that this kind of work looks great on a college application and job resumes. And the event is held every year at Machalester College Campus so its fun to see what it looks like.

That's all for now I guess? At least until I can think of something. :)

Stuff.

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't updated in forever! It's been a crazy school year with the new semester changes. Here are some random things that have been happening over the last time I posted.

1. I'm not sure if I mentioned this before but I'm on the world challenge team at school and it's going quite well! At first I didn't want to join but I did cause it looks great on a college application. Then I started getting into it! It's so much fun coming up with ways to solve world problems. This year our challenge is trying to solve water pollution problems in poorer countries of the world. It's pretty awesome!

2. I went to a Sadie Hawkins dance yesterday and I had so much fun! I didn't ask anyone to go but 2 guys asked me.? I don't think they get the concept of Sadies. So I didn't go with anyone cause I didn't want anyone to feel left out.

3. School is going way better! Now I have mostly A's and 1 B. I still like all my classes. Except I'm not liking my science class so good right now. Not cause I don't like science, I just don't like my teacher. He's an awesome guy in general but as a teacher he just throws the text book at us and expects us to memorize it. Now we are learning Astronomy and we have barely gotten into chapters 1 and 2 and he already expects us to memorize the phases of the moon! Its insane!!! I really want to switch out but I've come this far with the same teacher all year and I'm able to keep a C in his class so I'm hoping to raise it up to an A by the end of the year. I just have to study A LOT and do really well on my chapter challenge essay.

4. Driving... Its going okay right now! All I needed was practice and a mellow person in the passenger seat. I drove on the highway! 50 mph! YES! That was a total challenge.

5. High School Registration was last week! I'm now registered for my classes at the BHS! The electives I chose were Women's Chorus and a pre- Psychology class with Child Development and Pre- Parenting course. If I take this course and pass with a B or higher I can take the second class in 11th grade and if I pass that then I get college credit towards the Psychology area at the U of M. which is great cause I want to be a Chidrens' Psychologist when I get older. And my friend Terrianna's mom went back to college to get a degree for nursing! And at her college they have a program for kids. Kids in 12th grade can take extra college classes while they are still in high school! I totally want to do that! I can be a Senior in high school and a Junior in college and still live on a college campus! My cousin Charlotte is doing that too. And the credits are transferable to different colleges! That's exciting!

Well, I guess that's kind of it?! Happy Valentines Day!!!

Sorry to say, I'm not doing the musical this year. This year the musical is "Thoroughly Modern Millie". I think this semester I'm going to focus more on school work. My grades have started to slip down from A's to B's and 1 C :P. So now I'm working harder in school. And I now have a new schedule! Check it out!

2nd hour, Spanish, Mr. Challgren
3rd hour, Art, Mr. Wittstruck
